NBA D-League all-star events?  Could be entertaining.

If you're an Iowa Energy fan, you might want to tune in.  Your team is sending four players to this year's events in Dallas, Texas.  Those events include an all-star game, slam dunk contest, three point contest and shooting stars competition.  This is the fourth consecutive year they are taking place for the NBA D-League.

Curtis Stinson, Pat Carroll, Earl Barron, and Cartier Martin will be representing  the Energy this year in Dallas.  Stinson, Barron and Martin will be competing for the Eastern Conference in the all-star game and Carroll will be competing in the shooting stars competition.

These nominations come well derserved.  Stinson leads the league in assists, averaging 9.8 per game.  He also contributes 14.7 points per outing.  Barron and Martin both average 14 points a game respectively.  Carroll tallies 10 points per contest, while shooting just under 40 percent from three point range.

Over twenty of the NBA D-League's top prospects were selected to the all-star events by a combination of fan voting online and voting by the league's head coaches.  Two 10-man teams will be divided by conference with the West playing the East.  The others will be competing in either the three point or dunk contest.

"We're thrilled to bring our exciting brand of basketball and fan friendly events to NBA all-star weekend for the fourth consecutive year," said Dan Reed, NBA D-League President.  "At the end of last season, one out of five NBA players had D-League experience, and we're excited to bring more than 20 of the best NBA prospects to showcase their talents on the biggest basketball stage," he added.  These comments were via a press release on the NBA's official website.

The D-League all-star events will take place this weekend.  The three point and slam dunk contests along with the shooting stars competition will take place on Friday evening (February 12th).  Those events will stream live on NBA.com from 9 pm to 10 pm.  The all-star game will take place on Saturday (February 13th)  at 2 pm.  That game will be aired live on NBA TV.
