Aside from a much improved product on the court and an exciting brand of basketball, the Iowa men's basketball team is giving UI students plenty of reasons to attend Thursday's Big Ten battle with No. 15 Wisconsin.
The university has teamed up with the Hawks Nest and the UI Student Government to offer a "UI Student Free Night" at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The game against the Badgers starts at 8:05 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN2. The students attending the game need to present a valid student ID. And they can get tickets ahead of time at the IMU Box Office or a the UI Athletic Ticket Office.
Iowa students who already have student season tickets can be reimbursed the $5 they paid for the ticket if they attend Thursday's game.
The "UI Student Free Night" is not the only promotion going on Thursday night at Carver.
The first 2,000 fans will receive a Matt Gatens Bobblehead and the first 500 fans will receive a free pizza. The first 500 students get a rally towel and the first 100 students get free ice cream.
The Hawkeyes are 14-13 on the season and defeated Wisconsin at the Kohl Center in Madision, Wisconsin, earlier this year.
