Iowa women’s basketball coach Lisa Bluder announced Friday that reserve forward Kayla Timmerman will not return to the team this season.
Timmerman averaged 4.5 minutes, 1.3 points and one rebound in 26 games last year as a freshman backup. According to a University of Iowa press release, personal reasons is why Timmerman decided to leave the program.
“I really want to thank all the coaches and staff for giving me this opportunity,” said Timmerman. “I also want to thank the fans; there are no fans like Hawkeye fans. I especially want to thank my team for always supporting me. Once a Hawkeye … always a Hawkeye.”
Iowa returns eight letterwinners from a team that went 21-13 last season and made its Big Ten-best sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
The program also adds Miss Iowa Basketball Ally Disterhoft, Alexa Kastanek and Hailey Schneden as freshmen.
