Iowa and North Carolina knew they would be playing each other in this year’s 15th annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Now the two squads know when they will square off.

ESPN has finalized the time and network designations for the event and the 25th ranked Hawkeyes will play the sixth-ranked Tar Heels and Iowa native Marcus Paige on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN.

The rankings are according to ESPN.com’s preseason top 25 poll. Other ranked teams in the event include No. 2 Duke, No.4 Wisconsin, No. 7 Virginia, No. 8 Louisville, No.18 Michigan State, No. 21 Syracuse and No. 24 Michigan.

The other potential top-25 matchups are No. 21 Syrcause and No. 24 Michigan and No. 2 Duke and No. 4 Wisconsin. Syracuse-Michigan tip off at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 2, while Duke-Wisconsin finish the Challenge at 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 3.

Louisville plays in its first Challenge when it takes on Ohio State on Dec. 2 at 9:30 p.m. and Virginia faces former ACC rival Maryland on Dec. 3. Michigan State meets Notre Dame on Dec. 3, too.

The two leagues have split the last two events, winning six games apiece in 2012 and 2013. When that happens, the Commissioner’s Cup remain with the conference that won the previous season and that is the Big Ten Conference right now.

The ACC won the first 10 Challenges from 1999-2008, but the Big Ten won the next three from 2009-2011.

Nine ACC and eight Big Ten teams reached the postseason last year. Wisconsin reached the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament , while Minnesota won the NIT title.
