Iowa Basketball: Hawkeye women's recruit named Indiana Miss Basketball

Whitney Jennings, a University of Iowa women’s basketball signee, has been named Indiana’s Miss Basketball by the Indianapolis Star recently.

The award honors the state’s top senior and Jennings already had won the Gatorade Indiana Girls Basketball Player of the Year on March 13. She also was one of just 20 seniors nationally who were selected to the 2014 Parade All-America girls basketball team.

The Logansport, Ind., native will join the Hawkeye basketball program in the fall. She averaged 32 points, eight rebounds, 7.4 assists and 5.1 steals per game this past season and led the Berries (24-3) to the Class 4A state semifinals. She finished with three career triple-doubles and ended up with 2,641 career points.

Also excelling in the classroom, Jennings carries a 3.99 grade point average.

Jennings will be one of three players on the Hawkeye roster next season to earn Miss Basketball for their respective states, joining Iowa’s Ally Disterhoft and Wisconsin’s Samantha Logic.
