This reporter ventured out to Iosselliani's Holiday 2013 party in a cold drizzly rain. There are only two things that could get her outdoors in such weather: white wine and costume jewelry. A party at the Iosselliani flagship is always ready to serve up plenty of both.
Arriving at the New York shop, guests were immediately offered something nice to drink - and were bathed in flattering light. These are two essential components to any good party, and the PR firm behind Iosselliani's American presence knows it. Available for viewing were collections from Iosselliani's early days - all the way back in 1997, when designers Roberta Paolucci and Paolo Giacomelli first started creating accessories to go with runway collections for brands like Missoni and Kenzo. Also on hand was the brand's most recent/upcoming collection for 2014, Puro - an assortment of sinister and intricate bits and bobs (lots of skulls and serpents). And all around the shop was every collection in between - Indian Summer, Black Hole Sun, and - this reporter's personal favorite - the Circus.
This reporter did allow herself to try on a few pieces, seeing as how Christmas is coming and all. One bracelet did not suit her, but brought to mind Grace Jones, which can never really be bad. Another, slimmer bracelet made of gold and dark metal drooped and draped much more nicely. It would look good in her stocking Christmas morning.
Iosselliani currently has shops in New York, Rome, Osaka, and Tokyo - some of the most fashion-forward cities in the world. It's a highly creative brand that not everyone will get, but the right people will.
