Apple's iOS 7 download is due out at any moment. On Sept. 18, Apple users will be able to download the new software onto their mobile devices and while many cannot wait to update their phones, others are a bit skeptical -- and for good reason. As the LA Times points out, iOS 7 might have its fair share of bugs and hiccups which may frustrate users more than simplify their lives.
"I think people aren't anticipating how big of a deal the new iOS 7 will be. The software is very different than where they've been. And the thing that is going to blow people's mind is that it's going to make it feel like they're getting a new phone," said Carl Howe, a Yankee Group analyst (via LA Times).
What time does iOS 7 come out?
The iOS 7 download should be made available some time this afternoon but that doesn't mean that you should scramble to download it without knowing the facts. The new operating system is going to make your current phone different -- it's not just a "background" update that will make your phone "faster." iOS 7 is said to be the biggest software change that the iPhone has seen since its inception in 2007.
What is Apple iOS 7?
On iOS 7, the home screen has a more three-dimensional look, with the apps appearing to float far above the background wallpaper image. The apps have what is described as a "flatter look," losing some of the fake lighting effects that made them appear to be rounded.
Apple has also added new swipe gestures to allow quicker access to control settings. There is a translucent look that lets a user see through different apps that might be running simultaneously. Apps will automatically update as new versions become available. And iOS 7 also includes iTunes Radio, Apple's new streaming music service (via LA Times).
The iOS 7 download is still going to be popular with thousands (if not millions) of people downloading it and playing around with all of the new features. While it is going to be different, several tech savvy people suggest that people are going to love it and that many will catch on to the changes quickly. The update might not be as exciting to someone who is used to the way their iPhone works now but basically, people will be getting "new" phones for "free" once they update.
