INXS reveal new lead singer

INXS have gone public with the identity of the singer who will replace JD Fortune

According to an article release today (9/26/11) by Billboard.com, the Auzzie pop rockers have hired Irish singer Ciaran Gribbin to take over the duties.

Gribbin was introduced to INXS guitarist/keyboardist Andrew Farriss 2 years ago at a party in Sydney, Australia and wound up "sitting on a balcony, singing 'Mystify' with the guy who wrote it... pretty surreal."

His credentials include a Grammy nomination in 2010 for co-writing "Celebration," a new song for a Madonna compilation album. Gribbin also sang backing vocals on Snow Patrol's "Eyes Open" album, performed on the soundtracks for "Heartless" and "Wild Target” and sang as a member of the group Leya and as a solo artist under the alias Joe Echo

Gribbin takes over duties from exiting Canadian frontman Fortune, who was fired for a 2nd and final time after a new song, "Tiny Summer," was posted on INXS’ official website with a then ‘mystery’ Irish vocalist.

Gribbin will begin a 6-show romp through South America, Europe and Australia with the “New Sensation” hitmakers, starting Nov. 3

INXS are expected to be in the studio shortly after that to work on a new album.

Gribbin initial vocal effort with the band can be streamed at the band’s official website

Did you know?  Ciaran Gribbin is the 3rd INXS lead vocalist, following the exit of JD Fortune who won the job after winning the 2005 reality TV show Rock Star: INXS, and original lead singer Michael Hutchence who died in 1997.
