According to a Feb. 26 report from Fightline, former Strikeforce women's champion Sarah Kaufman will find out what Invicta Fighting Championships is all about when she takes on Leslie Smith on Apr. 5 at the Invicta FC 5 MMA event slated for Kansas City, Missouri.
Kaufman, like many female fighters who competed on past Invicta FC cards, praised Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp and matchmaker Janet Martin for the way they treat their fighters.
"They do a great job, an amazing job of putting together high quality matchups," Kaufman said of Invicta FC. "They treat fighters really well, are doing a great job of promoting females from around the world in all different weight classes. I couldn't say anything better about them."
Smith fully agreed with Kaufman's assessment of the way Invicta FC treats its fighters.
"They treat everyone so well," Smith said of Invicta FC during a recent appearance on The Sunday Night Breakdown radio show. "They are honest about everything. They put everything out there up front. They provide for us really well at the shows. They have hair braiders for goodness sakes."
Smith says MMA life wasn't always so good, as she recalled some horror stories from her days prior to being one of Invicta FC's fastest-rising stars.
"I never even made it to one of the shows, I went to a tryout for the XFC all the way on the other side of the country," Smith said. "It was in New Hampshire I think. I was so excited, this was right before Invicta started. I paid for my ticket to go out there, an airline ticket and I rented a car while I was out there. I had to rent a hotel room while I was out there. Four of us got chosen to fight, three men and I was the woman, and [XFC] never called, ever. Even after spending all that money. Invicta would never do anything like that."
