Aussie MMA star Bec "Rowdy" Hyatt said on March 19 in an exclusive chat with Long Island MMA Examiner Eric Holden that she has been named "WMMA Fan Favorite of the Year" for 2012, beating out Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate and others.
"Looky looky what I came home to guys," Hyatt posted on her official Facebook fan page, in reference to her award. "My certificate for being voted the 2012 World WMMA Fan Favorite Of The Year. Thank you everyone that voted for me last year. I'm being told that Ronda Rousey came in second by around 70 less votes."
"Rowdy" Ronda Rousey may be the current UFC champ, but the "Rowdy" from Australia has been making a name for herself as well.
As of March 19, Hyatt has over 28,000 Facebook fans, and close to 7,000 Twitter followers.
Despite having just six pro MMA bouts under her belt, she's already an international superstar who has captured the attention of the Australian and U.S. media alike.
The 2012 WMMA Awards panel consisted of journalists from websites such as Sherdog, MMA Rising, WMMA Today, Wombat Sports, Real Women's MMA and The Ultimate Female Fighter.
"I'm honored to have taken the 2012 Fan Favorite crown," Hyatt said.
MMA fans can check out Hyatt live and in person on Apr. 5 at the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri. She's set to fight Austrian striker Jasminka Cive on the main card of Invicta FC 5.
