Invicta FC's Bec Hyatt ponders challenging UFC's Pat Barry to an eating contest

Invicta FC strawweight contender Bec Hyatt said on March 21 in an exclusive chat with Long Island MMA Examiner Eric Holden that she might challenge UFC heavyweight contender Pat Barry to a food-eating contest following the Invicta FC 5 weigh-ins at the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri.

Hyatt, a 24-year-old who fights Jasminka Cive in a key main card tilt on Apr. 5 at Invicta FC 5, apparently took notice of a Rose Namajunas tweet, where "Thug" was seen shoving chocolate mousse cake into her mouth.

"@rosenamajunas @ericholden Gimee gimee gimmeeeeee!!!" Hyatt tweeted, in response to Namajunas' photo.

"Thug" immediately fired back, telling Hyatt to come hangout with her in the United States.

Hyatt then escalated the situation, explaining "@rosenamajunas @ericholden We are so going for some of that after weigh ins."

Namajunas responded "sounds like a plan lady."

Hyatt and Namajunas will both be appearing at the Ameristar Casino Hotel on Apr. 4, one day prior to Invicta FC 5. Once they hit the scales and reach their contracted weight requirements, they are free to enjoy food as they please.

Hyatt could have simply enjoyed some "bestie" time with Namajunas during Invicta FC 5 weekend, but her competitive spirit compelled her to call out the 20-year-old's main squeeze for an eating contest.

"@rosenamajunas @ericholden Might even challenge Pat to an eating contest LOL," Hyatt tweeted.

Is it smart for a fighter to gorge themselves on chocolate mousse cake on a night before a fight? Probably not, but crazier things have happened.

Time will tell if the epic eating contest between Barry and Hyatt goes down, or if "Rowdy" is just bluffing. For all we know, Hyatt may be the second coming of Sonya Thomas, an award-winning competitive eater.

Hyatt's battle with weight loss is well-documented, so it seems likely she still has the appetite to fuel a victory in a competitive eating challenge. No word yet if Barry would be down to accept the battle, but he's never been one to shy away from opponents.

Namajunas didn't provide much support to her boo bear, as she told Hyatt "I have a feeling you might be able to beat him."
