Invicta FC 7 weigh-in results: Leslie Smith and Barb Honchak both on the mark

According to a Dec. 7 report from Sherdog, Invicta FC flyweight champion Barb Honchak (8-2) will defend her title against three-time “Fight of the Night” winner Leslie “The Peacemaker” Smith (6-3-1) in the main event of Invicta FC 7, and both ladies were on the mark for the 125-pound weight limit.

Honchak weighed in at 124.25 pounds, while Smith tipped the scales at 124.75 pounds.

In the Invicta FC co-feature, Invicta FC strawweight (115 pounds) champion Carla “Cookie Monster” Esparza (9-2) will defend her belt against undefeated Brazilian superstar Claudia Gadelha (11-0).

Esparza and Gadelha both weighed in at 114 pounds.

In a third world title fight, the inaugural Invicta FC bantamweight (135 pounds) world championship title will be on the line, featuring knockout artist Lauren Murphy (7-0) against unbeaten rising star Miriam Nakamoto (2-0, 1 NC).

Murphy weighed in at 134 pounds, while Nakamoto was 134.75.

Also on the Invicta FC 7 main card, Bellator veteran Felice Herrig (114.5) battles hard-hitting Muay Thai ace Tecia "The Tiny Tornado" Torres (114).

In other action, undefeated Scottish talent Joanne Calderwood (115) is set to fight undefeated strawweight Katja Kankaanpaa (114.75).

The Dec. 6 weigh-in event for Invicta FC 7 got off to a rocky start, when Munah Holland weighed in at 128 pounds and her opponent, Nina Ansaroff, also missed the 125-pound requirement for their flyweight bout.

Both fighters were given an additional two hours to make weight, and neither made it. Holland ended up at 127 pounds, while Ansaroff weighed in at 126.75.

All 16 other fighters on the Invicta FC 7 card made their contracted weight requirements.

Invicta FC 7 is being distributed in North America by Integrated Sports Media for live viewing at 9 p.m. on both cable and satellite pay-per-view via IN Demand, DISH, Avail-TVN in the United States, as well as Bell TV, Shaw PPV, SaskTel, TELUS, and MTS in Canada, for $14.95.

Invicta FC is also offering a free one-hour live viewing in North America, starting at 8 p.m. on Dec. 7, available via all aforementioned pay-per-view carriers and The Fight Network in Canada.

Viewers worldwide may also watch free bouts featuring Sarah D' Alelio (7-4) vs. Tonya Evinger (11-6) in a bantamweight tilt and Munah Holland (5-2) vs. Nina Arsanoff (5-4) at flyweight, via www.invictafc.com and Invicta Fighting Championship’s Facebook page.
