Calderwood's new hair design received praise from several media outlets, including Middle Easy.
"Futuristic neon roller blade cyber-thug hair," Middle Easy said of Calderwood's new design.
Middle Easy hit the nail on the head, as Calderwood's Invicta FC 7 hair is stylish, unique and futuristic.
"Skrillex hair," made famous by the male disc jockey of the same name, is becoming increasingly popular with celebrity women like Rihanna, Ke$ha, and Avril Lavigne, but it seems to be making its way into the WMMA scene.
Besides Calderwood, fellow Invicta FC strawweight Bec Hyatt also has a portion of the side of her head shaved like the famous DJ.
Not many folks can pull it off, but Calderwood looks fantastic with the Skrillex-style design.
Calderwood, 26, has long-flowing golden locks and red highlights on the bottom, with the left side of her head buzzed into a futuristic design.
The Scottish pugilist may be having some fun with her looks today, but this weekend she'll be all business for her fight against Kankaanpaa.
"Throughout my career, my managers have pretty much dealt with making my fights, and now with me being with Invicta, the promotion is dealing with the matchmaking," Calderwood said. "While I was in Kansas for my last fight for Invicta, they basically said they were thinking of Katja next. Obviously at the time I was concentrating on my opponent, but we knew that after the fight Katja would be next.
"She's 8-0-1 and I'm 7-0, so I think this is a perfect step up for me. She's above me in the rankings, so it's worked out perfectly. As always the matchmakers at Invicta have really come through."
