A man was shot multiple times and killed when he allegedly forced his way into another man’s apartment early Friday morning in DeKalb County.

The resident was also injured and had to be taken to the hospital, according to DeKalb County police. But police said it’s unclear how the resident was injured since he was not shot.

The DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office said it's waiting to notify the deceased next of kin before releasing his name.

The call came in around 4 a.m. about shots being fired at the Silver Oak Apartments at 1281 Brockett Road in Clarkston, police spokeswoman Capt. Steven Fore said.

When officers arrived on the scene they found the man inside a unit dead from multiple gunshot injuries, Capt. Fore said.

“The man forced his way into the unit and the resident fired at him,” police spokesman Capt. Steven Fore said.

Police said the two men knew each other and had gotten into an argument Thursday afternoon. But it’s unclear what the argument was about. It was also unclear if the intruder was armed.
