We are just hours away from one of WWE’s flagship events – The Royal Rumble. The 2013 edition will be the 26th edition of the pay per view. Just like WrestleMania, SummerSlam and the Survivor Series, The Royal Rumble is one of WWE’s vaunted original “big four” pay per views. It is also my favorite pay per view of the year, and the one I look forward to most.
The 26th edition will take place on Janury 27 in Phoenix, Arizona. While it is the 26th show, it is the actual 25th anniversary of the event. And yours truly is a sucker for anniversaries such as this and is no stranger to celebratory countdowns. Like a look at Survivor Series' top teams from 2011, the Survivor Series pay per view countdown from November, the top SummerSlam matches countdown from this past summer and exhaustive countdowns for WrestleMania from 2009, 2010 and 2011, this is a celebration of the Royal Rumble event itself.
But also like previous countdowns, this is my list and my list alone. It is open to my interpretation and thoughts at the time.
So in an effort to promote and celebrate the past twenty-five years of The Royal Rumble, over the next few days there will be a countdown the past twenty-five Survivor Series events ranked in order of importance, scope, match quality, historical significance, overall intangibles, pure nostalgia and other varying factors that crop up.
And as always with these countdown, let the debating begin and enjoy.
