Introduction to alternators, part ten, alternator components continued

Water cooled alternators were introduced on high line production vehicles at the end of the twentieth century. With a high electrical demand of modern vehicles and limited engine compartment space, water cooled alternators were designed and introduced to production models to accommodate the electrical demand, reduce the failure rate due to excessive heat and not require more space in the engine compartment. These types of alternators can be found on Cadillac, Mercedes Benz, BMW and Range Rover.
