THVM is a conceptual line of basics and beyond founded in 2009 by designer Brian Kim and his wife, Olga Nazarova, along with their business partner Nicola Scagnolari. As the name implies, THVM (pronounced “them” – This Here Very Moment) is a creative collective whose form of expression includes not only clothing but a literary journal of the same name and a retail space inside a former paint factory in downtown Los Angeles.
High-quality fabric with a good amount of stretch and Kim’s keen eye for cuts that flatter set the line apart from the mall masses. Kim, who made a name for himself via his Echo Park storefront Work Custom Jeans, says THVM “takes away details that aren’t functional”. The look is definitely minimalist. The brand’s conceptual cool line is being carried at Neiman Marcus, Urban Outfitters, American Rag and many other boutiques in US and in Europe. The designers from THVM have also collaborated with Denim Tech to produce the Airwash technique which is an eco friendly treatment reducing the amount of water and chemicals and a recycling technique to reduce waste.
The collection of jeans is priced from $115 for basics (indigo, blacks), $120- $140 for novelties (overdyes, two tones) and $170- $220 for premiums (waxed jeans, salt, oil cave). The brand’s excellent fit has made it the favorite label of many celebrities and include Adrian Grenier, Taylor Lautner, Lee Lee Sobieski, Miranda Kerr, Jennifer Hudson, Alexandra Chando, Jillian Rose, Peter Facinelli, Michael C. Hall, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Jonathan Groff, Mary Lynn Rajksub, Coco Rocha, DJ Kaskade, to name a few.
