Introducing the new release of the 2011 Appalachian Trail Data book

The Appalachian Trail has gotten longer! The Official distance of the AT has been verified at 2181.0 miles, just a change of only two miles from the last recording in the 2010 data book. You can check it yourself in the new release of the 2011 Data Book which is available to the public as of right now. Just a few minutes ago the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) posted on Facebook the exciting announcement. For through hikers and section hikers all over there was sure to be a cry of excitement as the official hiking season of 2011 nears ever so close. Just 90 days from today we open the official hiking season on the Appalachian Trail. It will still be cold and windy on the trail but the water will be plentiful and the sounds of spring and those familiar scents of Jasmine in the south and wild garlic in North Carolina will permeate the air!

What an exciting time it is for AT hikers today. The book is a compilation of all 11 AT guidebooks into one lightweight highly indispensible book. At just 96 pages and at a cost of only $6.95 this guidebook is one that you cannot do without hikers! Highly suggested by the National Appalachian Trail Hiking Examiner as well as the ATC and hikers everywhere, you just cannot do without this companion on your hike. In the 2011 AT data book you will find all the information you need to complete a hike of any distance on the AT. From location of every water source to location of all the overlooks and memorial sites, this book tells all. It tells you the exact mileage between every place on the trail. So if you are hiking all day you will know how far to your next overlook, shelter, camp, water source, road crossing etc.
