Introducing the Boiler Room

Less than twenty minutes south of downtown Nashville lies beautiful, historic Franklin, Tennessee. Franklin is home to a fifteen block historic town center, The Carter House, and The Factory at Franklin. "The Factory" is a somewhat misleading name, since the complex of eleven depression-era buildings is now home to a unique mall, offering gifts, antiques, entertainment and service businesses, and of special interest to us, the Boiler Room Theatre.

Located on Franklin Road, The Factory houses what can easily become an all-day experience. The vibrant mall's shopping and dining opportunities, capped off with a lovely show at the Boiler Room, is enough entertainment for anyone. Visitors to Nashville are strongly encouraged to make the jaunt down I-65 to this historic town and enjoy a day of fun at this one-of-a-kind mall. Residents of the middle Tennessee area should also familiarize themselves with The Factory, as the site offers tons of fun activities, including a farmer's market, classes and workshops by Art For Life and the Robinson Taekwondo Academy.

Above and beyond all of these excellent attractions, there's the Boiler Room, a comfortable, intimate venue seating 120. The Boiler Room is, incidentally, in a boiler room, which allows for a unique voyage through time.

More importantly, The Boiler Room Theatre, or BRT, is also a professional non-profit theatre company, providing an excellent variety of lovingly produced shows. BRT has been in operation since renovations of the dilapidated building were completed in March of 2001.

Upcoming shows include:

  • The Miracle Worker
  • Sunday in the Park with George
  • Picasso at the Lapin Agile
  • Jesus Christ Superstar
  • Clue- the Musical

Ticket prices run from $12.50 to $25.00, and shows are offered seven days a week, with additional matinees on the weekend. Season tickets and group discounts are available. It should be noted that children under the age of three are not permitted in the theatre, so a babysitter may be in order.

Summer theatre camps are also offered by the company, with classes held in nearby Brentwood and performances at The Boiler Room itself. This summer, they're putting on a full-scale production of Willy Wonka. Seems like a great way to keep learning fun!

Don't blow it (hah! a boiler pun!) by missing the chance to see an excellent show in this charming venue.
