I write and talk a lot about the importance of (1) reaching out to each other for comfort and support; (2) how the words and actions of each one of us affects so many others; (3) that we are all in this world together; and (4) that by helping each other, we will move ourselves and each other forward Spiritually. I write about these subjects because they're so very important to our continued Spiritual growth, and today I am honored to introduce you to Tamara MacDowell, a Spiritual Midwife, Spiritual Facilitator and the Founder of the newly formed Sacred Womb Community. Tamara created this community to help women stand in their light, their power, and to help them discover the truth of who they are. The Sacred Womb Community also reaches out to women who have been sexually abused, to help them heal and move forward with their lives.
Sherri: Tamara, thank you so much for sharing with us today. I know that you were sexually abused as a child by a family member and to move forward from something like that is an amazing feat of Spiritual strength. I’m so sorry for what you experienced, and so grateful for what you’re doing to help other women. I know that the Sacred Womb Community encompasses many things, all of which help bring together women to help other women—can you elaborate on your mission statement for us?
Tamara: Absolutely, Sherri. Our community was created to help women (and men, too) identify their truth, stand in their power, tap into their creativity, find their passion, discover their purpose, and spark their inner fire. We do this by helping people, especially women, open to loving themselves on a much deeper level, and for many women, we help them understand the wounds within their womb and help them find healing and release. Healing these kinds of blockages enables us to move forward and live the amazing lives we were meant to live.
Sherri: Can you tell us a little about how our wombs might come to be in need of healing—how can we recognize that we need to heal?
Tamara: You know, Sherri, the Dalai Lama once said that ‘The world will be saved by the Western Woman,’ and I believe that before we can begin to save the world, we must save ourselves first, and to save ourselves, the best place to start is with healing our sacred womb. Our womb holds our sacred power, our wisdom, our strength, our creativity, and it is the pathway to all things birthed. Here are some of the ways to know if our sacred womb may be wounded:
- You are blocked or have limited or no access to your creativity
- You experience physical pain from painful menstruation, excessive bleeding, and/or PMS
- You struggle with the questions: what is my purpose and why am I here
- You are plagued with failed relationships, friendships, family members, co-workers, all types of relationships
- You were sexually abused, raped or the victim of any serious, violent crime of the womb
Why is this womb healing necessary? Because one of the many aspects of this new age is love…not romantic love, but more so self- love and unconditional love. We cannot possibly love another unconditionally while wounds within the womb remain; there is an energetic attachment there whether we’re consciously aware of it or not. As the wounds become known, that energy, the energy attached to a particular wound, can be released and removed. As the wounds are released, what takes their place and fills that space is love, and with that love comes a sense of freedom; the freedom to be who you are, without the need to explain, defend or justify yourself to anyone. This is the goal of the Sacred Womb Community, to help ourselves and each other get to this place--what a world it will be when we can all learn to live and love from this wonderful and magical place that we can create within ourselves.
Sherri: Tamara, unblocking our blockages has long been key to moving forward Spiritually, and the concept of unblocking blockages that we hold within our womb is a new and intriguing concept for me. Would you please tell us a little more about the concept of the sacred womb?
Tamara: The Sacred Womb goes far beyond a woman’s uterus: it is the original womb of creation; the place of origin that can be linked to the womb of Mother Earth, the womb from which we were all birthed from the original wound, each soul has taken on an energetic imprint; and how our souls deal with the magnetic impact of this imprint affected our previous lifetimes and our present lifetime physically, emotionally, and mentally. All things are energy. Everything we have ever experienced in any and from all lifetimes, has an energetic thread attached to it, and there are several ways in which an energy thread may appear. It may appear to be connected to an event, happening, circumstance or person from a life lived previously or it may be connected to something in your current incarnation. Regardless of where the point of origin is found, the healing/clearing process is the same, and the Sacred Womb community seeks to restore the natural order of balance within, awakening you to the path of self-discovery, the path of oneness and the path of wholeness.
Sherri: Thank you so much, Tamara, for the important work you're doing and for creating a community where we can all feel safe as we heal, learn and grow together. This is a new concept for me, and I appreciate you're taking the time today to introduce the Sacred Womb Community to my wonderful Readers.
