On March 9, Orlandobands.com will introduce music fans to a new monthly showcase, Second Saturdays in Sanford, at The West End Trading Company. Each event will feature two stages of multiple-genre live musical performances from bands based in the Orlando and Central Florida area. The Second Saturdays in Sanford showcases are FREE for music fans to attend.
The local Orlando bands scheduled to showcase for March are A.J. Fritscher, Carly Jo Jackson, The Heavy Craigs, Shout London, Cold War Relic, Spoone, Meka Nism and Stroke of Midnight with Central Florida band Within Rising. “Spoone is looking forward to getting in front of our fans and making an impression on new ones,” said Marshall Hearne, drummer for local Orlando band Spoone. “We’re also looking forward to a party. If there is one thing Spoone likes, it’s a party.”
The goal of the Orlandobands.com Second Saturdays in Sanford event is to support local music and art, while raising attention and awareness for The Batey Rehab Project (BRP). “Orlandobands.com is not only a great resource for the local scene but also a great resource for moving out of the local scene,” said Hearne. “Ben (Gardner, Orlandobands.com founder and CEO) has offered great advice and opportunities for musicians to meet industry professionals and other musicians on the site as well as at events.”
The event’s sponsors include Evermore Sound, Connecticut School of Broadcasting, Q Entertainment Law, and Chris Godkin RE/MAX Town Centre and vendor sponsors Spawn Guitars and Inearz Audio. “I’ve met all of the sponsors at Orlandobands.com events like this one as well as at other events around town and they are hugely supportive of the local scene,” said Hearne. “Luke (Beaulac, owner of Evermore Sound) has a great insight into what is needed to have your recordings sound amazing. His studio is one of the most impressive in town.”
A free showcase like this is the perfect opportunity for local music fans to get out and show support for local live music. The Second Saturdays in Sanford showcase will be held at The West End Trading Company, 202 S. Sanford Ave. in Sanford and gets underway at 7 p.m. This event is all ages but under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Fans are encouraged to confirm their attendance on the Orlandobands.com web site.
