Founded in 1998 as a trap-neuter-return organization, in 2009, Ohio Alleycat Resource expanded its services and opened to daily operations. These operations include a spay / neuter clinic, TNR support organization and cat adoption shelter. OAR started strictly as a TNR (trap/neuter/return) group that handled feral colonies across Cincinnati. Now, OAR has grown into an organization that manages the spay / neuter of up to 9600 cats a year.

With fully licensed veterinarians and vet techs on their staff, OAR can manage this large amount of cats by following the Humane Alliance’s standard surgery procedures. It can take as little as 3 minutes to neuter a male and 6 minutes for a female cat, making OAR’s processes very efficient for handling large feral cat colonies, as well as many pet and stray cats a day. OAR also supports the Cincinnati community with offering reduced prices on spay /neuter to help those who need it. OAR provides vaccinations, but is not a full service veterinary office.

OAR works by providing TNR equipment and training. They hold classes two times a month for TNR strategies, training on using traps and other TNR processes. They also provide spay and neuter services for other rescue groups and for individuals who are caring for local feral colonies. OAR manages their own feral colonies as well. They even have one that’s connected to their location in Madisonville.

Cats are also available for adoption from OAR. All of OAR’s cats have been vet checked, neutered or spayed, inoculated and tested for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus. Adoption fees are $85.00 for kittens one year old and younger and $75.00 for cats over one year of age. OAR hosts open houses on certain Saturdays in their adoption shelter.

For more information on adopting one of OAR’s cats, TNR or their spay/neuter programs, please contact OAR at Ohio Alleycat Resource & Spay/Neuter Clinic, 5619 Orlando Place, Cincinnati, OH 45227. Their phone number is 513-871-7297 or they can be found on the web at www.ohioalleycat.org
