Introducing Krosphyer to the The Reno Music Scene

Here is another installment of the bands playing and trying to get their "big break" in The Reno Music Scene.

Krosypher "LIVE" at The Alley in Sparks, NV

Introducing .... Krosphyer

Krosphyer is a rock and roll band formed in 2013 from Gardnerville, Nevada .

The line-up of the band consist of, John Kumanski-(lead guitar), Aaron Flesher-(drums), Bret Allen-(vocals) and newest member, Jason Norkunus-(bass)

Here is a little bit about the members of Krosphyer.

Guitarist John Kumanski grew up in Southern California teaching himself how to play by listening to his parents records and the radio.

Kumanski was heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Joe Satraini, Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, Eric Clapton as well as rock bands, The Rolling Stones, Van Halen and The Beatles.

With the many great guitarist Kumanski was influenced by, this examiner can see why he is as good as he is. I've seen many very good guitar players here in Reno over the years and he is definitely one of the best.

Aaron Flesher had in one way or another always been around an instrument. He found his calling with the drums.

Flesher's heavy handed playing are influenced by Rush to Blink 182.

He lays down the back beat very well and is the perfect fit for this rock band. His hard hitting and great timing keep the rest of the band heading in the right direction. You can really tell he is influenced by the greatest drummer of all time, Neil Peart.

Bret Allen had never sang a day in his life until he worked up the nerve to ask during rehearsals he used to frequent on a regular basis.

Impressed with what the band heard, they immediately sat down and wrote "Lose My Mind" and they haven't looked back since.

With influences such as Elvis Presley, Ozzy Osbourne, Chuck Berry, Burn Halo, Shinedown and Led Zeppelin, you can see where he gets his vocal chops from.

Allen's baritone vocals have quite a bit of range and his stage presence is very good as he gets into every song with a lot of intensity. He also likes to interact with the fans while he is on stage which always makes for a good show .

Jason Norkunus has been playing bass in various bands since high school.

Norkunus's influences range from the Beatles to Primus and everyone in between. He has a vast knowledge of music which gives him an unpredictable style.

His bass playing skills are very good and he also has a great stage presence, he moves all over the stage and just doesn't stand there like many other bass players this examiner has seen before.

Krosphyer has played in and won the battle of the bands at the Carson Valley Days Carnival in Gardnerville, Nevada. and Porchfest in Napa, California.

Krosphyer has also made it into the finals at The Hard Rock Rising Battle of the Bands competition in Lake Tahoe.

The band has been cutting their teeth opening for bands like Nuke Vegas, Motogrator and a few headlining gigs at The Alley in Sparks, Nevada.

The band has much more planned for the future and will be going into the studio mid to late 2014.

Blending classic rock and blues with a modern sound the band has finally found its niche'.

If you want to catch Krosphyer "LIVE" in concert, here is your chance. The band was recently added to the bill of the national touring bands Powerman 5000 w/ 9electric, Knee High Fox and Ol Goat at The Alley in Sparks on Wednesday May 21, 2014. You don't want to miss these guys, this examiner knows you won't be disappointed. Who knows they might even steal the show.
