Lawson-Montgomery is an independent record label based in Raleigh, North Carolina and is administered by Diamond Music Group (DMG), Inc., in Las Vegas, Nevada; distributed by INgrooves Music. The company's products are developed under the A&R guidance of Lavae McClinnahan.
Home to the artist collective known as 11 Grooves, Lawson-Montgomery, brings under its umbrella a selection of talent that sets the stage for a new dynamic in Southern music. The mission of the label is to deliver quality and meaningful products to meet the needs and wants of global consumers.
11 Grooves was founded in 2000 by Marc Law a native of Duplin County, NC. As a long time fan of hip hop music, he began his career kicking verses with friends and on underground tracks in various studios. He is also a member of the Tsunami Gang, a group comprised of artists on the 11 Entertainment label. In keeping with the Lawson-Montgomery philosophy of exposing top talent from the Carolina region, the crew hosts a monthly event in Raleigh called "New Ishh Fridayz" to showcase Carolina's independent artists.
One of the driving forces behind any venture is the "handlers" or business minds that handle the plethora of mundane pieces of the machine which make a successful business grow and prosper. Diamond Music Group, Inc., is the secret weapon for Lawson-Montgomery and 11 Grooves.
In 2005, Diamond Music Group was formed by Lavae McClinnahan and Edward Walsh to operate as Label Services and A&R services for independently funded recording companies. The purpose was to give independent musicians and artist the ability to reach the masses for a fraction of the cost major recording companies would spend in the areas of product placement, marketing, development, sponsorships, and other entertainment branding areas.
2011 saw DMG complete it’s first independent project for Las Vegas based independent Too Much Entertainment and the artist Cabby with his single "Left Lane" Ft. Yung Joc which peaked in the Top 10 Independent Chart in Urban Mediabase Reporting. This took the talent from local indie to national indie, opening doors for touring support, and global terrestrial radio.
In the same year DMG helped launch North Carolina based independent 11 Grooves (11 Grooves/ Ingrooves/Fontana) which released it’s first national single by its artist G$ titled "All I Know" Ft. national recording artist (Lil Scrappy (Money In The Bank, VH1′s "Love and Hip-Hop").
Thanks to a solid team of professionals, Lawson-Montgomery's 11 Grooves, is currently on a successful college tour in the Southeastern US; has a full-length project set for release in March of 2014 entitled "Loyalty: From The Dirt"; and are working with major production talents such as Cavier Cross, Organized Noize and St. Nick. Their music is currently available on iTunes, Amazon and social sharing site Spotify among others.
Independent labels are on the march globally and Lawson-Montgomery is displaying a formula for success that stands as a shining example of how to get things done correctly. Standing beside a full squad of specially skilled giants in the industry, we will continue to hear the name Lawson-Montgomery as 11 Grooves is positioned to establish itself as one of the greatest new music collectives to come from the South.
