Metal Church played its first San Antonio concert in nearly 10 years Thursday night at Backstage Live. Prior to taking the stage, guitarist and founder Kurdt Vanderhoof graciously went 1-on-1 with the SAMME.

Click on the photo of Vanderhoof to see what the group's lone remaining original member had to say about coming back to town, the reasons behind Metal Church calling it quits in 2009 and the impetus behind their return, two songs they avoided playing on their "reunion" show on the 70000 Tons of Metal cruise in 2013 and more.

Stay tuned for more coverage from the SAMME including a chat with singer Ronny Munroe, plus a review with slideshow of the concert.
