A short, engaging woman with red curly hair and bubbly personality is probably the last person you'd expect to be endorsed by heavy metal singers for helping them develop and hone their chops. But Melissa Cross isn't concerned with being ordinary.
Known as the Queen of Scream, the San Antonio native-turned-New York resident has coached everyone from underground and up-and-coming artists to some of the heaviest and most famous singers on the metal scene. Cross has put cameras down their throats -- and her own -- to show her clients what their vocal cords should look like. She's produced a pair of instructional DVDs and has appeared on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien."
And now she's gone 1-on-1 with the SAMME. Click on the video box at the top for the second and final part of our wide-ranging interview.
Will there be screaming? Of course!
