Los Angeles – Celebrate the end of the summer at the Skirball Cultural Center’s “Into the Night: The Wild Side” on Friday, August 30th from 9:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. This late night event, 21 and up event features performances by indie bands Jenny O., In the Valley Below and Body Parts. KCRW DJ Travis Holcombe performs sets before and after the bands. The concert takes place in the Skirball’s magnificent outdoor courtyard with interactive events happening all around the campus.
The evening’s headliner, L.A. hometown favorite Jenny O., is beloved for her insightful and courageous songwriting, which can be compared to artists like Ricky Lee Jones, Carole King, and Neil Young. Jenny will play works from her most recent album Automechanic, now out on Holy Trinity Records.
“Into the Night: The Wild Side” also includes a set by dreamy pop duo In the Valley Below, who are getting ready to release their Peaches EP on September 17th. Two nights before they play the Skirball, the band will appear on the Late Show with David Letterman.
Rounding out the evening’s musical performances is the ’80s-inspired Body Parts, whose debut full-length, Fire Dream, will be released on October 29 on Father/Daughter Records.
Throughout the night, concertgoers are invited to enjoy oversized games, cocktails, craft making with Julianna Parr from CraftNight, a balloon artist, and screenings of Dr. Seuss’s The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T.
The Skirball’s popular playspace, Noah’s Ark at the Skirball, will host special nighttime activities such as an “Animal Dance Party” and life-sized animal puppets.
California organization Zoo to You will roam the campus with live wild animals. (Animals that may possibly appear include a kangaroo, an African porcupine, a lemur, or an alligator!)
