ORLANDO, Florida (Isabelle Zehnder reporting) -- When you look into the eyes of little Caylee Anthony you can’t help but see wonder, curiosity, eagerness, inquisitiveness, happiness … life.
Caylee would be six-and-a-half today, if she were still alive. She’d probably be in first grade playing with dollies, jumping in puddles, celebrating birthdays, playing with friends, taking ballet lessons, being tucked in at night … all things that were taken from her the day her life ended.
Caylee’s story has been one of heartbreak, frustration, and exasperation. The way her mother, Casey Anthony, repeatedly lied about her little girl’s disappearance in June 2008, and about the recovery of her remains six months later, were beyond comprehension.
Casey was arrested, released, and arrested again. She was finally charged and tried in the first degree death of her daughter. Her “trial of the century” captivated people across the country and around the world.
Her lies, inconsistencies in her story, the evidence that was stacked against her – certainly a jury would find her guilty.
But that was not to be the case. In a shocking twist that shook the nation, Casey Anthony was acquitted of any involvement in her daughter’s death and received only one year of probation for lying to police.
People want to know – where is the justice in that?
Tempers have flared across the country and around the world at what some say is a seemingly flawed system that somehow failed this little girl. What happened to Caylee is a question that may never be answered, though it certainly isn’t for the lack of trying.
It’s difficult for people to look into those beautiful brown eyes and consider walking away from seeking justice for Caylee. The harsh reality is that barring someone confessing to her murder or what might have been a cover-up of a tragic accident, her story could remain buried with her.

Most recently mental expert depositions were unsealed by a Florida judge. Read: Casey Anthony: Psych transcripts unsealed, reveals surprise testimony.
What experts wrote would shock the nation once again - Casey not only accusing her father of molesting her, but suggesting he might be Caylee's father. DNA testing disproved that theory, and George Anthony adamantly denied every molesting anyone.
Casey also claimed she was afraid to leave her little girl with her father for fear he'd molest Caylee. Most people aren't buying it, some are saying they believe the entire Anthony family is psychotic. Read: Psych report: Casey Anthony said her father, George, fathered, murdered Caylee.
Some believe it was Casey's mother, Cindy, who ran the family and said she is a classic narcissist who groomed her daughter from birth to follow in her footsteps. There are more theories and opinions about the Casey Anthony case than one can count.
At the heart of the recent controversy and uproar over Casey - the woman who has challenged the minds of people across this country - is a little girl who was abducted, murdered, and disposed of like trash.
Many people are irate thinking Casey stands to make millions off her daughter’s tragic story. Some find solace in knowing there’s a God who they believe she will answer to someday, while others believe karma will catch up to Casey and when it does, she’d better watch out.
