We just discovered a new California Pinot that is simply delicious! It's Deep Sea Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara, California.

We discovered that Deep Sea Pinot Noir actually comes from comes from Rancho Arroyo Grande in the Central Coast region of California, just thirteen miles from the Pacific Ocean. The grapes for this wine are harvested in the Solomon Hills Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley, California. It is said that grapes from these two locations are some of the most sought after Pinot Noir grapes in the state.

Bordering the mountains of Los Padres National Forest, the property is filled with of sloping hillsides, woodlands, pastures, olive groves and an abundance of wildlife, this thirty-five hundred acre estate winery is committed to sustainable agricultural and vineyard practices—and it shows in the glass.

At first blush Deep Sea Pinot greets you with a wonderfully smoky nose, hints of vanilla and caramel notes. Barrel-aged for 17 months in French oak, this wine is light, balanced, soft and silky with classic flavors of cherry, rose petal, and exotic spices.

Deep Sea Pinot Noir is a medium to light ruby color, with an immediate wonderful smokiness laced with vanilla caramel on the nose. Blackberry/cherry fruit notes follow and there is just a hint of oak. It is both luscious and plush with a satin texture and layers and layers of classic Pinot Noir rich ripe cherry, rose petal, exotic spice and leather. This wine is balanced throughout by delicious fruit, elegant oak notes and is framed with subtle mineral and earthy flavors from start to finish.

With its delicious fruit, elegant oak notes and earth, this wine can pair well with many cuisines, or can be enjoyed on its own.
