'Interview with the Vampire' getting a 20th anniversary Blu-ray release

According to Blu-Ray.com yesterday, July 21, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment have announced that they are releasing a 20th anniversary Blu-ray edition of Neil Jordan's "Interview with the Vampire." "Interview with the Vampire," was released on November 11, 1994. Now the new edition of the movie will be released on September 30, and back in 2008, "Interview with the Vampire" had been first released on Blu-Ray.

Anyway, "Interview with the Vampire," was based off of the beloved Anne Rice novel of the same name. Brad Pitt had starred as the main character Louis, the vampire with a conscience. Tom Cruise had starred as the enigma Lestat, and a young Kirsten Dunst was the vampire child, Claudia. Stephen Rea, Antonio Banderas, Thandie Newton, Christan Slater also starred in the 1994 vampire movie.

The Blu-ray release includes a brand-new featurette with the author Anne Rice, also Rice does an introduction as well as Neil Jordan and Antonio Banderas. Other features that are going to be in this edition are the following:

  • Director's Commentary with Neil Jordan.
  • The Theatrical Trailer.
  • The Blu-ray also has a documentary in it and that's called "In the Shadow of the Vampire."

So this is exciting news for fans of the movie and of the beloved vampire classic. Upon its release "Interview with the Vampire," had been nominated for several awards, two of those awards were Oscars, the two Academy Awards were for "Best Art Direction" and "Best Original Score." The beautifully done soundtrack of the movie had been written by Elliot Goldenthal.

Fans of the movie will want to buy the Blu-ray release that is coming in the end of September. Even after 20 years the film still is popular, as is the 1976 book that it is based on.
