Comedian Hope Flood will engulf female comedians with hope at her 2nd Annual Females in Comedy Convention at the Los Angeles Marriott Hotel, LAX, from April 23-27, 2013. Hope is coming to Los Angeles with an agenda of helping other female comedians. Follow me as we journey into the world of the Queen of “keeping it real” Comedian Hope Flood as she spreads hope to female comedians coming up in the industry.

Renisha: Tell Los Angeles about the 2nd Annual Females in Comedy Convention and what to expect.

Hope Flood: The 2nd Annual Females in Comedy Convention is a dream come true for me. God has put this on my heart for so long to educate, network, mentor and share the information that I’ve learned in my twenty-five years in the business with other female comedians that are coming up in this business. We have workshops, seminars, panel industry discussions and showcases every night at the top Los Angeles comedy clubs. It’s for the beginner to the veteran comedian that will come and receive all this wonderful information taught by other comedians in the business. Not to mention, this has never been done before on this level and everyone that comes to the convention can get in contact with all the celebrities, teachers, and other comedians that they met.

Renisha: How did comedy begin for you?

Hope Flood: I always knew I wanted to be in the business since I was five years old. I just wasn’t sure what area of it I wanted to be in. At first I wanted to be a journalist, then an entertainment lawyer but once I got in front of an audience I knew. I didn’t actually discover stand-up comedy until way later. I was in every school play and talent show then, in 1989 I went to a comedy club and saw live stand-up comedy, I knew then this was what I wanted to do.

Renisha: Were you always funny?

Hope Flood: Yes, I was voted class clown in school every year so when my classmates saw me on television they were not surprised, they expected it.

Renisha: What was the best gig you ever performed?

Hope Flood: All my gigs are special, but if I had to choose it would be performing on television and doing radio.

Renisha: Who is your favorite comedian of all times?

Hope Flood: Richard Pryor of course (laugh out loud).

Renisha: Who is your biggest inspiration?

Hope Flood: My son inspires me to keep going and my fans.

Renisha: Tell us about some qualities that a good comedian should have?

Hope Flood: Perseverance, patience, commitment, a thick skin, loyalty, and staying true to themselves. Comedy is not a sprint, it’s a marathon.

Renisha: What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Hope Flood: Never let them see you sweat. Keep throwing things up against the wall because something is going to stick one day.

Hope Flood made her dreams a reality and so can you. If you’re an aspiring female comedian and serious about making it in the entertainment industry then you don’t want to miss the 2nd Annual Females in Comedy Convention where you will learn to be great while also learning from the best in the comedy industry. Hope is flooding Los Angeles with hope for female comedians. You don’t want to miss this life changing event. Now is the time to seize greatness with no limitations!
