Cendrine Marrouat: In 2010 alone, you received eight Editor´s Choice Awards on Revostock and won the USA Songwriting Competition. What is your recipe for such a successful career?

Catya Maré: I visited an NLP coach (and read about NLP techniques) before leaving the safe orchestra job. This helped me turn limiting beliefs into more useful ones. And I decided that I wanted to have success.

Visualization and meditation are tools I appreciate a lot. Well, and persistence might be necessary. Sometimes it seems like there are only road bumps, so that's when visualization and meditation help a lot to keep a positive focus.

CM: What is the daily routine of artist Catya Maré?

CaM: I like to start my day with an orange juice followed by meditation. I love healthy (rejuvenating) food, so my breakfast is important to me, too!

Then I usually check email and take action where required. I do a bit of myspace PR things, press releases or website updates etc., and then the creative process takes over. I'm so privileged to have my own studio in my house.

If not I´m too absorbed in a new musical production, I love to go for a walk every day. But each day is different. So there are meetings with film directors, interviews etc., too.

Sometimes producers call me to record some violin parts for them and send over to them and so on…

CM: You also produce and record your own music. Tell us a little more about that.

CaM: Well, I love it! Being able to do it all myself is such a blast. Nobody needs to be asked for permission and nobody needs to be waited for. I can just manifest a musical idea here and now.

That doesn´t mean that I exclusively work by myself though. I also love to collaborate. It is just a different process.

CM: As an independent artist, what are some of the challenges you encounter on a daily basis?

CaM: Artists who are signed by major labels receive much more publicity and visibility than independent artists, so it is hard to compete with that, of course. Also music placements in motion pictures are not easy to secure these days, so it all needs patience and perseverance.

But awesome features, such as this one, are extremely helpful! Thank you, Cendrine!

CM: What is next for you?

CaM: I'm working on new productions, which include both my violin and vocals, which is really fun!

More placements in motion pictures / commercials, and my albums in more retail stores will be the goals for the near future.

My recent USA Songwriting Competition success might help create some great new contacts. I´m excited about it!

CM: Where can people find more information on you and your CDs?

CaM: On my Website are links to my CDs, stores, videos, music, pictures, etc.

CM: Any last words?

CaM: A BIG Thank You, Cendrine!

End of the interview.
