Danielle Lewis is a 29 year-old independent artist with a bright future ahead of her. In this interview you will learn more about her and her music.
Cendrine Marrouat: Hello Danielle, thank you for answering my questions. First, tell us a little more about you.
Danielle Lewis: Thank you for having me! I'm from Long Island, NY. I went to Five Towns College and received my Bachelors in Music Business. As soon as I left college, I started teaching Chorus in an elementary school. After I left there, I started to do music full time.
CM: In 2010, you released your first full-length album, titled "Amazing." Why such a title?
DL: My album is called "Amazing" because the process of finishing it took everything out of me! Hahah! It was literally amazing that I finished it.
CM: How long did it take you to record it?
DL: I started recording songs for my project in 2005.
CM: How different is "Amazing" from "Completely Yours," your 2009, five-track release?
DL: "Amazing" is filled with live instrumentation and beautiful production. "Completely Yours" was more raw and the beginning of my journey.
CM: How is your daily routine? Has it changed over the years?
DL: My daily routine has drastically changed. Everyday I get up and run my business now. I have 2 page To Do Lists and many voicemails! Hahahah! I love my life!
CM: You are the CEO of Pure Sounds Ministries. Would you tell us a little more about it?
DL: Yes. Pure Sounds is a full service company offering vocal lessons, praise and worship workshops and vocal production.
CM: You have traveled and performed around the world. What do you prefer: studio time or gigging? Any favorite moment you would like to share?
DL: Gigging! Definitely! One of my favorite moments was in Russia. A young boy came up to me crying saying that we brought the sunshine to Russia. It changed me.
CM: How have Canadian audiences responded to your music so far?
DL: I have been to Montreal only and they loved me! And I love them! I have made some good friends out there as well. I'm truly grateful.
CM: What do you want to achieve through your music?
DL: I want WORLD PEACE! Hahahaha! No, but I want people to feel God's love in every song.
CM: As an independent band, what are the main challenges that you encounter?
DL: I would say the main challenge is having a great budget to accomplish everything we want to do.
CM: According to you, what role do independent artists play in society?
DL: Right now, we are the pioneers/trailblazers of the NEW music business.
CM: What is next for you?
DL: A Danielle Lewis Tour! Coming to a town near you.
CM: Where can people find more information on you and your music?
DL: People can find more info about me on my Website, Facebook and Twitter.
CM: Any last words?
DL: Yes! Stay Focused, Pray Always and Plan, Plan, Plan!
End of the interview.
