There are many paranormal investigation groups in the Springfield area and in the State of Missouri and each group approaches the task of investigating alleged occurrences in slightly and sometimes broad, degrees of belief and investigation style. Over the next several weeks I will be conducting interviews with different local investigation groups and their directors, asking each the same questions to provide my readers with a quick look into the varying investigative styles and histories of each group. I hope that you will find these 4 and 5 part interviews interesting and enlightening as to just how varied the different beliefs and investigative styles are from one group to the next. But along with the differences I hope you will also take note of some of the similarities of each group; most notably the caring attitudes and the want to be of assistance to people who might be experiencing paranormal activity. Bud: How many years have you been a paranormal investigator?
Greg: On a personal level, I have been investigating the paranormal for over twenty years. In an organizational or team setting, I have been investigating since 2005.
Bud: How long has your group been in existence?
Greg: Paranormal Task Force (PTF) was officially incorporated in the state of Missouri as a not for profit organization in 2006, however it is preceded under its originating name as Missouri Paranormal Research since 2004.
Bud: How did you first get started in ghost hunting?
Greg: I first got started in organized and structured “ghost hunting” or what I prefer to call “paranormal research and investigation” in 2005, after becoming personally involved with an extreme haunting situation in Union, Missouri. This was the haunting later featured on the Discovery Channel series “A Haunting” in the season three opener titled “Fear House” and was also the subject material of a recent book titled “The Uninvited” written by Steven A. LaChance.
Bud: What developed your interest in paranormal investigations?
Greg: My interest and passion for the paranormal stems from personal unexplainable experiences I have had off and on since childhood.
Bud: What types of investigations do you do? Spirit, demonic?
Greg: As an organization we collectively focus within the “Ghost and Hauntings” portion of the paranormal spectrum. Haunting types include: traditional/intelligent; residual; poltergeist; demonic/malicious; portal; or a mixture of such.
Bud: Do you have any protection rituals that you use before an investigation other than prayer?
Greg: Personally, I do not engage in any protective ritual. However, I do wear icons which reinforce my spiritual beliefs.
