Interview with owner of Eclipse on 28's

One word: Deliverance. From the depths of the south comes an Eclipse on 28's. Where's the banjo paw?

In continuation of the first article, "Donked rice: Mitsubishi Eclipse on 28 inch rims", I'd like to bring you an interview of the builder and owner of this vehicle found on YouTube. As one would expect, this vehicle was created around the wheels due to their massive size. When asked why the owner picked 28 inch rims, the owner replies, "Nobody has done it." Unique indeed, this vehicle is quickly turning heads and snapping CV joints. With plans to swap an LS1 V8 engine, there shouldn't be anymore worry about the large wheels holding back the car in traffic.

Is this Eclipse practical, and can it get down the road? Of course, and it's claimed by the owner to be a daily driver with an average of 100 miles per week. The motor isn't stock though, which explains how this thing actually can get down the road. Using a Nissan D24 engine and divorced transfer case, this thing really has four wheel drive! I'd personally like to see it tackle some mud holes.

More big donk action!

"We got the rims, and we wanted to put a car on it." That pretty much sums up this build. To use wheels of such size on a smaller chassis, a lot of work must be done to adapt to the larger wheels. Upgrading the frame is key, as the stock Mitsubishi framework simply won't handle the components required to fit 28 inch rims. With a beefed up frame, soon to be LS1 swap, and a divorced differential four wheel drive system, this is turning out to be one freakishly odd build. Kudos to the builder, you are one creative being sir.

Quite an engineering exercise. Difficult to create, ugly and useless, but a lot of art fits that description, doesn't it?
