Interview with new Binns Mgmt client Andrew Chirico

Andrew Chirico with his Binns Management contract
Jimmy Binns Jr

Binns Management is a Philadelphia based operation, but they are always expanding their brand throughout the country. Binns Management has guys from all over the country including Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Florida, and even Nevada. You can now add another client from New York with Binns Management signing their newest client Andrew Chirico.

Andrew Chirico is a MMA fighter holding an Amateur MMA record of 9-1. Chirico has decided to take the next step in his career, and turn Pro. I had the chance to speak with Chirico on a variety of topics including turning Pro and signing with one of the top MMA management companies in the country, Binns Management:

Kyle Holdsworth: What’s your relationship with Jimmy Binns Jr. like? Where did you’s two meet and how did it come about?

Andrew Chirico: My teammate Mervin Rodriguez, who has been a Pro for a long time. He fought Bellator MMA veteran Will Martinez in Matrix last Fall. Jimmy [Binns Jr] needed a guy for a fight on short notice and Merv asked me. I filled in on 48 hours notice and ever since that Jimmy liked me for doing that. I’m ready to turn Pro and I needed a manager. I saw Jimmy was signing all these great guys so it was a no-brainer.

KH: How do you feel signing with Binns Management will benefit your career?

AC: He’s got a bunch of real high level guys signed. In Philadelphia we have a sister school with Renzo Gracie Philly. I train at Renzo Gracie in upstate New York so that’s good. Jimmy works with a lot of people that I should be working with, so I’m looking forward to that.

KH: What made you decide it was time to start your Professional MMA career?

AC: I’m 9-1 as an amateur. This past Saturday I just retained my Welterweight belt at Evolution of Combat in Albany. I won in 55 seconds of Round 1 from an Arm-Triangle Choke. This is nine wins in a row, with eight first round victories. I think it’s just time for me to turn Pro now.

KH: You have a teammate fighting on TUF 19 currently by the name of Roger Zapata. How does seeing the success he’s having affect your fighting career?

AC: Roger Zapatta & Tom Marcellino who fights for Cage Fury Fighting Championships, are my two main teammates. They run the MMA at my school. They’re kind of like my MMA fathers. They’ve just shown me the way with everything they’ve done.

KH: When are you looking to get back into the cage?

AC: I’d like to get back to fight at the end of the Summer or early Fall. I’m going to be dropping down to Lightweight as well.

KH: What are the goals you’re hoping to accomplish for your MMA career with Binns Management?

AC: Obviously the first thing is I’m starting with Binns Management, and I’d like to end with Binns Management. I’d like my health, and just a lot of winning.
