Interview With Metalcore Band KINGDOM COLLAPSE

KINGDOM COLLAPSE is a group of metalcore up-and-comers from San Antonio, Texas, bringing you intense drums, riveting breakdowns, melodic choruses and crunching low-end. I had the opportunity to speak with bass player Cameron Huser and this is what he had to say:

Where did the name KINGDOM COLLAPSE come from?

Jonathan (guitarist) came up with the name when we were having a brainstorming session a while back for names. At the time, it didn't have much meaning. Now, I feel it means that there's a lot of "Kingdoms" in people's lives that need to come down. People put their faith into things that ultimately don't matter. You should live your life how you want to live, and not to try to fit in just for the sake of fitting in.

How do you guys meet?

Jonathan and I have been playing music together since middle school. We met Josh (vox), Michael (guitarist), and Hayden (drummer), within the past year and a half. We've all played in different bands previously, but we all mesh together musically.

Who are your musical influences?

Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Whitechapel, Miss May I, and many more.....

What was the vision behind your first single "Bottom Feeder"?

"Bottom Feeder" is definitely a good representation of what we have to offer as a band. It has the heavy riffs, melodic choruses, and even some down parts. We worked with Jonny Hawkins (Nothing More) on the clean vocals, which definitely helped me out a lot.

What has been the response so far on tour?:

Responses have been great so far! Definitely looking forward to keep branching out in Texas, and eventually the whole country.

If you could share the stage with anyone, who would it be?

I'd say Killswitch Engage. Ever since "Alive or Just Breathing" came out, they set the standard for what metalcore is now. Their music has a big influence on us. There hasn't been a metalcore band come out in a while that made the impact that they did.
