Interview with Mark Kinney of All Games Considered

I recently interviewed Mark Kinney of All Games Considered about their recent ENnie nomination for Best Podcast. All Games Considered is one of the longest running podcasts covering the roleplaying hobby, starting in 2005, but they also cover board and card games as well as people involved in gaming and the things they do. Last year they were nominated for the Best Gaming Podcast Parsec Award, and won the Gold ENnie for Best Podcast in 2009.

Michael Tresca: Tell us about the episode you submitted to the ENnies.

Mark Kinney: The episode we selected for consideration (outside the ones chosen by the judges) was episode 125, our "State of the Hobby" episode, where we described the hobby landscape (at least from our perspective) for those who are either new to it, or may have been away since the early 1990s.

MT: What sets your entry apart from the other competitors for Best Podcast?

MK: Each of our hosts are well informed on at least certain sections of the hobby, and we have a number of special segments designed to address other aspects, like the game reports from the RPG Buffet (a group of gamers who try a new game a month over a tasty meal). Our format allows for a quick listen to these segments, as well as the more filling main show.

MT: What type of player will enjoy listening to All Games Considered?

MK: All Games Considered is a good place for new gamers interested in expanding their view of the hobby, as well as the generalist gamer who is into a little bit of everything. We do hope that our knowledge of certain games will attract the hard core as well.
