Manny & Bobby Pacquiao

Marv Dumon:  Why support Sen. Manny Villar in his bid for the presidency?

Bobby PacquiaoVillar has been poor. We (the Pacquiaos) have also been poor.

He (Villar) has undergone being poor.

What the people are looking for are officials that have been poor because they can really understand their plight – just like Manny.

There are many opportunities for Villar to get votes.

Marv Dumon:  You have initiatives, (educational) scholarships, a medical center . . . do you have certain priorities in terms of helping others?

Bobby Pacquiao:  Normally, there have been a lot of people that approach Manny for help.

Manny has been able to support many scholarships that have allowed kids to go to school.  He has a lot of sponsored students . . .

That was it? What a lazy, sad excuse for a writer. Are you that greedy you had to divide a 5 question interview into two parts? You're a hack and a scam just like your other Examiner buddies. I have never read a good article coming from this guy. You are by far the worst blogger on this website.

  • spoof 2 years ago

    No!..it's not a blow blow...

I believe only the claims of Bobby Pacquiao that they are belongs to a poor family. Manny Villar is POOR? I don't think so! That's a HOAXXXX...

  • 2010 2 years ago

did you ask pacquiao whether he is very upright and honest in paying his taxes in the philippines? and how much? i am sure you forgot all about it.with your analytical mind, you will definitely come out with a very interesting article on how honest the pacman is. the amount of taxes he pays the philippine government, is a measurement on much he really loves his country.

  • brainless voter 2 years ago

that villar was once poor does not make him automatically honorable to be a elected as a president. you should ask yourself how he became filthy rich then, probably you'll come to know of his dirty tricks. does he really spend billions of pesos for the campaigns just to be able to serve the poor country? what may he expect in return? come on... poor people with poor judgement!

  • brainless voter 2 years ago

i really like pacquiao as a boxer but never as a law maker. like in boxing he has trainings, trains good for the fights and he makes it really good...but as a law maker??? i just wonder big time how he's gonna do that - though, often, it's ok with us like: we have a big supply of artistas to run the country. yeah we also have enough politicians who are drug pushers and heads of syndicates...and they make it too! and don't ever wonder... what we see is what we get!

  • befair 2 years ago

@Harvey, you have to be fair with your comments. I'm wondering why you even opened this site and read this article when you thought or believed all along that Mr. Dumon's articles were not good. Don't you think you are instead the worst blogger on this website.

    vote pacquiao for congressman.

    chiongbian, alis dyan...............

  • Chicago guy 2 years ago

It is not important issue from what kind of family where Manny Villar is coming from whether it was poor or rich family. It will not serve as basis that this candidate will truly serve the people if elected. The true basis is who this candidate as a person. If this this candidate was a previous government official his records will speak for himself.

  • kalagukoyd 2 years ago

Villar used the word "Poor" is wrong.
    Now, it backfired on him.
Their family was not that poor, but hardworking family to survive for meal day to day.
Villar parent was really a filipino model parent.
That is what our parents do, give the best to their children by education.
Ika nga iginapang sa hirap because wala silang ipapamana kundi edukasyon.
The point is ....they used the word poor inappropriately.

As to Manny and Bobby they were not that poor but only abandoned.
Poor is where hunger, famine, homelessness exist. Manny and Bobby can afford to have three times meal of rice only is enough. That is not poor...kulang lang sa ulam or in english not combo meal.

Pulitika? May tiwala pa ba kayo sa mga pulitika? Mababait lang mga yan pag nangangampanya pero pag nanalo na, akala mo kung sino na, nakalimutan na nila na kaya sila nahalal ay dahil sa atin.

  • villar 2 years ago

the true bloodline of a leader is on nonoy. para sa akin si nonoy. si villar trying hard, use the poor to get what he wants.if i know mas korakot payan kay gloria. mas masahol; payan kay erap. gumamit nang mahirap para sa sariling interest. bullshit

  • villar 2 years ago

To brothers Pacquiao: you don't know what you're talking about. Villar was never poor. His family lived in an upper class subdivision during his childhood. He and his siblings all went to private schools. His father was a ranking gov't employee and his mother was a seafood dealer/distributor. Was that poor to you? Obviously, because you lacked proper education, you were easily duped by a liar like Villar. Or maybe you support Villar because he is the secret candidate of Gloria and Mike Arroyo, and you are avid supporters of the corrupt Arroyo Gov't.

  • cano 2 years ago

Villar is a better president compared to Noynoy. WHY? Look at what are there accomplishments in life. Villar has proven a better and excellent manager both in his personal life and in government service. We need an excellent manager who can run this country. How about Noynoy? He just ride to the popularity of his dad and good timing death of her great mom, nothing more. We need great managers and good leaders and not popular person like Noynoy who is hiding under the skirt of her mom to get notice and elected. Vote wisely and compare apple to apple on whom the best deserve your vote.

I sincerely hope that Pacquiao can be a good public servant with a huge task to do.Villar and Pacquiao are two new faces in politics .What my country needs is one big help not just among Filipinos but from other friendly countries as well.Let my country sustain any growth it can muster and make us out of poverty. It is a common knowledge that Japan was helped big time at post war era .That is why it is an economic power now, even half of that will alleviate the poverty of our nation easily so,i think.

  • boxingero 2 years ago

I believe Manny has the heart and the intention to serve the people. However, these attributes are not enough to be an effective congressman. He may be a hero in the boxing world and I salute that but he lacks the tools that goes with a good lawmaker. Plus the fact that he goes around with politicians that are not good examples in governance & behaviour. However, I do hope and pray the Manny will prove us doubters wrong.

  • Chicago guy 2 years ago

It makes no sense to me that we should vote a certain candidate because he's coming from a poor family. We should vote for the candidate that can do something good for the masses, something good or a change for the better. We need to vote wisely not by sympathy.

  • LAMB 2 years ago

We certainly don't need a scholar with a hight IQ or degree to run the gov't. Although I must agree that knowledge is good but the wickedness associted for being a highly educated person can certainly run the govt in distress and look what is happening now! they are bunch of educated but no heart, wisdom & fear of God. God chose the poor and not a scholar or with big educational background to preach the goodness & wisdom.
