Lori Loughlin is now starring on a new Hallmark show called "When Calls the Heart." This show is set back in 1910 and is about a coal mining town who lost everything when several of the men were killed in an accident. On Feb. 13, Examiner got the chance to join Lori for an interview and find out about the show and more.
Lori was in the very last scene of the movie "When Calls the Heart" when it aired. She was contacted about it knowing it could be a potential pilot and set up for a series. They did a lot of recasting, but she stayed and is happy to be on the show. She was not familiar with the books, but did get to meet the author Janette Oke and said, "she's a lovely, lovely woman and she's very funny because she's so popular and these books are so popular, she made a comment about she's been trying to retire for years but they just won't let her."
Loughlin loves her character Abigail and wouldn't change anything about her. She did say she would like to see her get a nicer hairdo, but that will come as she starts to evolve and they change the character toward the end of the season. Abigail's strength is a quality she loves about her.
The show "When Calls the Heart" is a great family friendly show. Lori Loughlin's daughters loves to watch and she is proud of the fact that everyone can sit around and watch this one not worrying about what your kids might hear.
When asked about working with Michael Landon Jr. as a director she said, "Michael Landon, Jr. is an absolute dream to work with. I can't say enough nice things about the guy. He's extremely talented. He's very, very kind. He's a great director, great with actors. Kind to the crew. Very soft-spoken. Loves to laugh, loves to, you know, be funny on set and have laughs during the day. He's fantastic."
Right now she is working on this show and there is also a possibility for more movies similar to the one she did for Hallmark called "Garage Sale Mystery." This could turn into a several movies and Lori is excited to see what happens.
Of course a lot of Lori Loughlin's fans remember her as Aunt Becky on "Full House." When asked about the show and a possible reunion, she said, "as far as the reunions I would love to be a part of whatever. I mean, if the cast is getting together and it's a good script, you know, I'm up for anything. I love all those people and I love working with them."
Don't miss new episodes of "When Calls the Heart" on Saturday nights on Hallmark at 8 p.m. CST. Lori even shared a few spoilers that you can read in the interview here. It is in season one now and there is no news yet on season two, but Lori revealed she would love to be a part of it if it happens.
