Interview with Lisa Consiglio Ryan, author of 'Renewal "Anytime" 10 Day Detox'

Today’s guest is Lisa Consiglio Ryan, author of the health and wellness book, Renewal “Anytime” 10 Day Detox. Lisa is the founder of Whole Health Designs, juicy clean living advocate and mama of two. She loves her yoga practice, running, and has a mission to spread the word, "Food is love." She provides detox programs and private coaching for women who desire to embrace clean living. As a Certified Health and Nutrition Coach, Lisa has worked with thousands in her Renewal 10 Day Detox programs. Her work has been featured in Fitness Magazine, TinyBuddha, Elephant Journal, Kris Carr’s Crazy Sexy Life, The Daily Meal, and Mind Body Green. Can you tell us a little about yourself and how long you’ve been writing?

Technically I’ve been writing since 3rd grade when I wrote short novels about my family. But professionally, I would say 3 years. I began a blog when I started my health consulting business, writing about my thoughts, any creations I would make in the kitchen and wellness muses I would think up.

Can you tell us briefly what your book is about?

Renewal “Anytime” 10 Day Detox is a whole foods cleanse which includes detailed menu plan, over 50 recipes, shopping list, and bonus recipes to make after your cleanse. Renewal "Anytime" also includes pre-detox plan, daily instructions, FAQ's, and post-detox next steps. It’s a great resource for losing weight, energizing and achieve that famous detox glow.

Why did you choose your particular genre?

As a health coach who focuses on plant-based meal plans, detox, juicing, and anti-inflammatory ways to promote health and prevent disease, it was a no-brainer. I detox with my community each season and developed a plan that is great for beginners as well as seasoned veterans.

What was your greatest challenge writing this book?

I wanted to put all my recipes in the book! I have hundreds! BUT the hardest part was testing in the kitchen, deciding which recipes to use in the cookbook.

Are you published by a traditional house, small press or are you self-published?

I am self-published.

Was it the right choice for you?

Yes, absolutely. I had a great time writing the book so I can serve many across the world.

How are you promoting your book thus far?

I do a lot of promoting on my site as well as with Pump Up Your Book tours. I have a blast meeting bloggers, writers, and those who love cookbooks!

How is that going for you?

Beautifully. I’m getting a chance to meet lots of wonderful, supportive people as well as increase exposure for my mission.

Do you have another job besides writing?

I am a Certified Health Coach with my own business, Whole Health Designs. I so love my work!

If you could give one book promotion tip to new authors, what would that be?

Take action. Even if it a little step. It will get momentum going and confidence flowing. Sometimes getting your word out to the world can cause some fear, stuckness, but just taking action will free you of being stuck and lead to an abundance of opportunities.

What’s next for you?

Oh so many good things are happening. I’m off to Costa Rica with my clients for a wellness retreat. I will leading this self-love, self-care retreat at the end of July. I’m also turning in my manuscript for my new book which will be out late 2014.
