Interview with Lion from the Lake

Lion from the Lake

Recently I was lucky enough to ask Lion from the Lake a few questions. If you don't know who he is or do and would like to know more of what he's about, here is your chance. I always enjoy working with people who have a deep inner soul and Lion from the Lake definitely seems to be one of those people. Many of his friends or those who he has worked with describe him as a "very humble" and "all around good" person. From what I've seen, I would have to agree.

What got you interested in rap?

I have always loved poetry. I have always loved music. If you combine poetry and music it's an amazing process. I've always loved writing. The first time I watched the way people moved to a rap song, I knew I loved it! I could have the creative freedom to express outwardly what I inwardly felt. In addition, have the ability to impact another person's life. That is was rap is about, helping others.

Who are your major influences?

My major influence would be: Phonk Beta, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Brotha Lynch Hung, Dayton Family, Scarface, First Degree the D.E., and Loki Excelsior!
They have the ability to express who they truly are through the craft of writing to reveal that it's ok to be you, which is the message I bring.

How long have you been rapping?

I've been rapping since I was 12 years of age. There is nothing like creative freedom. It sure would be missed if it was taken away.

Where do you get inspiration for your writing/rapping?

I watch many people say one thing and do another. I did it for a long time. If I can use my experience to prevent pain for anyone, I've done it well. I always pray a lot. Intuitive thought is a channel you have to open in order to access your heart in its truest form. "I believe you can lose your mind, but find your heart."-Lion- Life is a transition from your head to your heart regardless of what you go through. I simply want to share that because I find that my story can benefit masses of people not just some. "The problem isn't loving ourselves, we do plenty of that. The problem is loving others in a form they can understand without misunderstanding." For example: Amber, you appear to be a very beautiful person. As a human being and a free American, I should have the right to tell you that as a compliment or form of encouragement without being crucified by people who disagree, whether it is family, friends, or whoever. As Americans we need to get back to this level of communication in between each other. "We need to come back to reality, in order to live in it."-Lion-

When asked if there was anything he would like to add or make note of, he wanted to point out that a synonym for "lion" is "hero." He definitely sounds like he's trying to help make the world a better place, don't you think? I think the term "hero" fits well for Lion from the Lake.
