On September 6-8, the AVP, IMG and the Atlantic City Alliance hosted the DO AC Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament, bringing back business, spectators and visitors to Atlantic City. Not only was this the only east coast stop if the AVP tour, this marked 16 years since the last tournament was held in Atlantic City.
We caught up with April Ross and Jennifer Kessy, the 2013 DO AC Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament Women's Champions, after their victory against the defending champions from Cincinnati Emily Day and Summer Ross!
Elizabeth Tam (ET): How does it feel winning the DO AC east coast stop of the tour?
Jen Kessy (JK): We're so excited! We had not been in the finals in two weeks and it was upsetting for us. We won the first one and it feels really good to be back on top. We love the east coast and anyone's that's close to the beach. You can see we always perform better when it’s close to the beach, so we really like it here a lot.
ET: Do you think the east coast vibe helped you out a little bit more?
JK: Maybe! We'll take any advantage we can get.
April Ross (AR): I really like the east coast vibe. I guess I never realized Atlantic City was on the beach, but its awesome and has an awesome culture.
ET: What's next for you guys, now that you've won?
AR: A milkshake at Johnny Rockets!
JK: Well we're going to go to Philadelphia tonight, go out to dinner there and go home; that is really exciting!
