Jazz artist and Los Angeles resident Tierney Sutton lives a busy, exciting and inspirational life. This year alone, she received another Grammy nomination for Best Vocal Jazz Album for her 2009 album Desire, performed three consecutive gigs with her band at Hollywood's Catalina’s Jazz Club, and enjoyed a remarkable evening performing at the Monk Institute Fund Raiser with Al Jarreau, Herbie Hancock, Keb Mo, and more.

Tierney lives and breathes the artistry of spiritual, transcendental jazz, allowing space between each beautifully articulated note, as the audience soaks in the depth and richness of the sounds. Much like Los Angeles itself, Tierney embodies spacious contemplation juxtaposed at times with the tight fluidity of scat... and she does so all with equal grace.

Warm, humble and gracious as always, Tierney still took the time during her busy schedule to talk about teaching and “A Case of You.”

What do you like best about teaching jazz?

I am currently the head of the vocal department at The Los Angeles Music Academy in Pasadena, CA. It's an intimate pace and I love the staff, faculty and students. I travel a lot but am in charge of the curriculum there. It has been a joy.

You have mentioned a potential album of Joni Mitchell material. Are there any bootlegs hidden somewhere "Dancing in the Dark" of someone's attic just waiting for release where your audience could get to hear this?

Well, I sang "A Case of You" last year for a private event... and I'm listening to a lot of Joni these days so who knows...

Tierney continues the tour with her band throughout California this month before national and international dates scheduled through June.
