Cendrine Marrouat: You have played regionally and beyond. Have you noticed a difference between Canadian and American listeners with regard to your music?
Mychael Pollard: I'll say this... I really can't say just yet because this is the beginning for me. But I think that what will happen is that I might be able to reach out to Canada a bit more than America. It may take America some time to get ready for me. I don't know.
CM: You have performed on many stages, including the legendary Blues Alley, The Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center, The Mansion at Strathmore, American University, and Howard University. Any favorite moment to share with us?
MP: The Mansion at Strathmore was my first solo debut concert. It was a big test for me to see how well I could entertain folks at a show and it was a success! Plus, I played a Slide whistle and a Penny whistle at the same time, and I played the strings inside the piano to emulate the sound of a storm.
CM: What are your main musical influences?
MP: My main musical influences are R&B, Soul, Funk, Rock, Progressive Rock, Jazz, Fusion and more.
CM: What is your long-term goal with your music?
MP: I plan to do music as long as I exist on this earth! I want to do movie and video game scores, produce other artists, move millions with my music and be my own boss.
CM: As an independent artist, what are the challenges that you encounter?
MP: Doing it all on your own, marketing yourself, finding a legitimate manager, and sometimes the motivation and stamina fluctuate too. You definitely need all the support you can get.
CM: According to you, what role do independent artists play in society?
MP: Self-motivated leaders and people that are willing to do things on their own terms for the good and sometimes for the worst.
Independent artists must school themselves or be schooled to what they need to know about the business and do their homework.
CM: What is next for you?
MP: Gigs, more album reviews, success, and to leave my day job.
CM: Where can people find more about you and "Plethora"?
MP: Visit my Website.
CM: Any last words?
MP: I really look forward to introducing "Plethora" worldwide so all the love inside my music can be spread all over. I think it is time to really start making things happen! This is something I've been dreaming about since I was young and now I'm ready to live it!
