Judas Priest. It doesn't really matter if you're in Syracuse, N.Y. or anywhere in the world. The name means heavy metal gods. Plain and simple. With the Epitaph tour hitting Rochester, N.Y. this week with Black Label Society and Thin Lizzy, I had the opportunity to interview Judas Priest bassist Ian Hill on the telephone from the U.K. via the Sony operator.
Ian is a man who has been around the world many times over, has been there since the birth of heavy metal and spoken with countless fans, reporters, and everyone in between. He is as humble, patient, and gracious as they come. His influences go from his father who was also a bass player into jazz, the blues, big band, Paul McCartney, and beyond. Judas Priest has paved the way for metal bands worldwide with their style, sound, and stage shows. It was good to learn that they are not done just yet. Ian, as we spoke before and after the interview, could be the guy next door or a guy you strike up a conversation with at the local pub. Look for more on Judas Priest this week.
Take a listen to the attached interview and thank you to Chip for making it happen.
