Cendrine Marrouat: You have played in a few bands and opened the stage for MSG Micheal Schenker. Any favorite moment you would like to share?
Nikolas Faraguna: Many special moments! Hard to choose one or two. I think playing together with my brothers is the best for me though. Opening for Micheal Schenker was a blast too! All the bands I've been in have been great! And with great people too!
CM: What do you prefer: performing or recording?
NF: I really enjoy both, but performance is definitely on top!
CM: How is the music scene in Japan? How different is it from what you have experienced in Canada or elsewhere?
NF: The music scene is big in Japan, and I am still learning the ropes over here. In Japan, generally you have to pay the venue to play, and/or sell a certain amount of tickets. So you can't really make money from live shows in Japan (unless you have a huge following). I think after I am here for a little while longer, and as my following over here increases, there will be more opportunities for me to make money playing live. Overall, there are a great variety of genres and bands to network with here, which I am now in the process of doing.
CM: Have you noticed changes in the industry since you started?
NF: Everyone now hires DJs. Not real live musicians. But, I guess it's survival of the fittest.
CM: As an independent artist, what are the main challenges that you encounter?
NF: Financial support.
CM: What do you wish to achieve with your music?
NF: I want to spread good messages to the world! Love and peace! Also, I want people to listen to my music and appreciate and interoperate it however they want. I want to tour the world!
CM: Where do you see yourself in five years?
NF: Touring the world with a few more albums under my belt!
CM: Where can people find more information on you and your work?
NF: My websites:
http://www.reverbnation.com/nikolasfaraguna
http://www.myspace.com/nikolasfaraguna
CM: Any last words?
NF: I recommend seeing my Reverbnation page as I am not impressed with myspace since they made all their changes.
And, thank you very much to everyone for all of your support!
End of the interview.
