I recently spoke with Erik Bauer of ENnie-nominated Gaming Paper. Founded in June of 2009 in Grand Rapids, MI, Gaming Paper manufactures and markets Gaming Paper rolls in hexagons and squares and they will soon be adding Gaming Paper Singles (8 1/2" x 11" 1" grid printer paper). Gaming Paper has been nominated for two ENnies: Best Aid or Accessory and Best Miniatures Product.

Michael Tresca: What is Gaming Paper exactly?

Erik Bauer: Gaming Paper is a 30" wide by 144" long sheet of paper with a 1"grid printed on it that retails for $4.00/roll.

MT: What sets gaming paper apart from other competitors?

EB: What sets us apart from the pack is the innovation.  It is something that hasn't been done.

MT: Who is your target audience?

EB: All kinds of players are attracted to Gaming Paper.  It is used in any RPG that can use miniatures, game designers use it to lay out their games, professional cartographers sketch their maps on it before starting the real drawings, I have even had costume designers tell me they us it as dress makers paper.

MT: Anything else you'd like to add?

EB: We are very excited and honored to be nominated in two categories.  We are up against some INCREDIBLE competition.

Congrats on the nomination, I keep gaming paper in my GM toolbox. It's an honor to share this nomination with you and I look forward to seeing what goodies you come up with next.

Innovative? Hasn't been done? He's got to be kidding. They sell easel-sized 1" grid paper at Staples, it's been around for years.

I don't understand how this product is Ennie-worthy at all, even worthy of a nomination. It's graph paper. Took a lot of deep thought to come up with that, did it?
