Cendrine Marrouat: According to you, what role do indie play in society?
Diahann King: I really believe it’s a blessing to be independent and I have a serious passion to work with and network in this arena. I’ve spent a majority of my overall career within corporate America; luckily at least 10 years of that, I was able to work remotely from home and do a lot of traveling for projects. Independence allows one to speak with a different voice and approach that one may not have within corporate America. One takes the good from corporate America and learns from the bad behaviour…
CM: What is next for you?
DK: I love hosting the radio show at its heart… To begin working on a second edition for the book and the Next Level CD, which is an extension of the book; it consists of some songs that I wrote and spoken word. This CD project will reveal the vocalist from within, who’s been hidden for a while. I’m originally from New York where this gift initially revealed itself by being a part of things like being lead in a Spring concert in Junior High School, High School Choir, New York All City Choir, Dance Theatre of Harlem Choir, performing live throughout New York with all and solo performances at some events.

CM: Is there anything that you would like to add?
DK: As noted earlier the creative me lay dormant until a couple of years ago when it released itself again. There are still a few gifts yet to re-emerge, like dancing; performance art was also a part of my beginnings, which included some training at the Dance Theatre of Harlem.
