I recently had to opportunity to talk with this rising star about "Dear Dumb Diary," the love and support of her family in her career and had a chance to get a sneak peek at the movie.
National Teen Celebrity Examiner: Emily, thanks so much for taking the time to talk to me today. Let's start off with a little bit about the movie which will be aired Sept. 6, 8 p.m. ET as a Hallmark Channel Original Movie. I really enjoyed the movie and my daughters did too. The oldest has now watched it three times! I think what I loved most about it was that the movie was of course comedic, but there were was this reality to it, things I could see happening to my daughters as well as things that have happened to my children as they make their way through friendships and school.
Emily Alyn Lind: I’m so glad you enjoyed it! You are right, Jamie isn’t cheesy, she’s real and the story tells a story about some important lessons like be yourself, dare to be different and it is who you are on the inside that is important, not how you look on the outside.
National Teen Celebrity Examiner: Did you read the book “Dear Dumb Diary?
Emily Alyn Lind: Actually I read the whole series of Dear Dumb Diary, by Jim Benton!
National Teen Celebrity Examiner: Will there be another “Dear Dumb Diary?
Emily Alyn Lind: Who knows we have to wait and see, could be!
National Teen Celebrity Examiner: Are you very much like the character Jamie?
Emily Alyn Lind: In a few ways I am kind of like Jamie. Jamie is very real, she is herself. She struggles with the same things that many middle school students struggle with like friends, peer pressure, and extra-curricular activities. Emily also keeps a diary, she admits, “I have them all over the house because I like to write everything down. I love writing. I also have little notes that are uplifting posted here and there in the house,” in an effort to stay up beat throughout the day.
National Teen Celebrity Examiner: What’s next for you?
Emily Alyn Lind: The most recent will be of course the “Dear Dumb Diary” DVD and soundtrack with an original song on it will be released on Sept. 10, 2013. After that look for the movie “Hidden,” in which a family hides in a fallout shelter to avoid a dangerous outbreak. This thriller stars Alexander Skarsgård and Andrea Riseborough.
